OpenAI and Meta are pursuing distinct strategies to automate marketing, with OpenAI launching new tools and Meta expanding its AI capabilities.
OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Work and ChatGPT Ads, designed to streamline marketing efforts. ChatGPT Work integrates with over 13 business tools, including HubSpot, Salesforce, Adobe, and Figma. These integrations allow marketing teams to manage customer research, sales conversations, and campaign performance in a single workspace, supporting strategy and creative development. Additionally, ChatGPT Ads aims to reach potential customers as they explore options and compare choices within ChatGPT.
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Work supports plugins for HubSpot, Salesforce, Adobe, Figma, Mailchimp, Slack, Google Drive, Microsoft SharePoint, BigQuery, Airtable, monday.com, Klaviyo, and Semrush. The platform also offers its own Data and Product Design plugins for campaign analysis, creative development, and prototyping.
In contrast, Meta is pushing forward with its AI driven ad tools, with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg envisioning a future where advertising on Meta platforms could require only a credit card and a business goal. However, industry experts expect full automation to take longer, with timelines extending beyond 2026. Marketing Brew reported that Meta’s Advantage+ AI suite, which includes creative, targeting, and budget optimization, has expanded. The company has also deployed a newer ad retrieval system called Andromeda, and its Manus AI agent has begun surfacing within Ads Manager.
Event Marketer has also integrated AI generated content into its events. The company is extending its partnership with Voxo for the Experiential Marketing Summit 2026, which will include AI generated session summaries, a five minute summary podcast, and an event chatbot that makes speaker content searchable. This builds on a 2025 implementation that delivered real time summaries.
These moves illustrate how OpenAI and Meta are adopting separate approaches to automate various aspects of marketing work, from campaign planning to ad buying. While these tools are advancing, the industry remains cautious about the extent of automation in the near future.
